Schedule: Spring & Summer

George Dixon Centre Inline Program ($20)

  • for children ages 4-12 (those registered in the Ages 10+ Training Group are NOT eligible)
  • lessons are Friday evenings, 6:50-7:50pm
  • there will be two 4-week sessions offered: one session in April (1st, 8th, 22nd, 29th) and one session in May (6th, 13th, 20th, 27th) — participants are limited to registering for one 4-week session unless extra spaces become available
  • all necessary equipment is provided by Speedy Kids at each practice

All Ages Oval Inline Program ($30 individual/$75 family)

  • for children and youth ages 4 & older — parents are also welcome!
  • program begins in early June (when the Oval opens for the season) and ends in late August (there will also be a fall program during September and October with registration later in the summer)
  • participants are divided into groups by age and experience with classes held 1x per week: we will try to keep family and friends together
  • participants can bring their own equipment (rollerblade-style skates, bike or skateboard helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards) or borrow equipment from the Oval (government-issued photo ID is required)

Ages 10+ Training Group ($90)

  • limited to skaters in the Speedy Kids winter ice program who were born in 2012 or earlier
  • participants must be motivated to do extra training during the spring, summer, and fall months in order to improve their skills and fitness with the goal of being faster on the ice next season
  • practices will be held 2x per week from mid-April to late November and will include running, inline skating, imitations and balance exercises, calisthenics, games, etc.
  • regular attendance at practices is expected
  • for inline skating, participants are responsible for bringing their own equipment (rollerblade-style skates, bike or skateboard helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards)
  • priority for borrowing club-owned inline speed skates will be given to participants who also register for the Canadian Roller Speed Championships (if they are technically ready)
  • participants are eligible for registration in the Crazy about Corners fall ice program
  • participants are expected to assist with coaching (1x per week) and contribute to fundraising efforts

Ages 10+/Nationals Training Group ($165)

  • limited to skaters in the Speedy Kids winter ice program who are age-eligible to compete at national championships: girls who are ages 11 & older and boys who are 12 & older on June 30, 2022
  • participants must be motivated to do extra training during the spring, summer, and fall months in order to improve their skills and fitness with the goal of competing at the national level in coming years
  • registration in this group requires approval of the coaches
  • practices will be held 3-4x per week from mid-April to late November and will include running, inline skating, imitations and balance exercises, calisthenics, games, strength training, cycling, etc.
  • regular attendance at group practices is required, and participants are expected to follow an individualized training program that includes additional sessions done independently or with a friend
  • for inline skating, club-owned inline speed skates will be provided, but participants are responsible for bringing their own protective equipment (bike or skateboard helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards)
  • participants have priority for registration in the Crazy about Corners fall ice program and for borrowing club-owned clap blades during the winter ice season (if they are technically ready)
  • participants are eligible to receive travel support for club-approved competitions and training camps
  • participants are expected to assist with coaching (2x per week) and contribute to fundraising efforts

Roller Speed Team ($65 for non-Speedy Kids participants)

  • open to anyone who has registered for the Canadian Roller Speed Championships that will be held in Halifax on August 6-7, 2022
  • 6-week program with practices held 1x per week during June and July in order to prepare participants for the Canadian Roller Speed Championships
  • focus at practices on inline speed skating technique, racing strategy, and competition rules
  • participants are responsible for providing their own equipment: helmets (bike or skateboard) and wrist guards are mandatory for all skaters; mouth guards are mandatory for skaters ages 18 & under; knee pads and elbow pads are mandatory for skaters ages 15 & under
